About Us

   Ascension is presently a two-person band.  We are Steve and Alexa Smith.  A few years ago, the Lord lead us to the world of modern contemporary praise music.  As time went on, we realized the mission God had laid before us and we've been following His guidance in that mission ever since.  Our mission, performed through our music , is intended not only to entertain, but to enlighten, to inspire and hopefully to touch those listening with the message conveyed in the lyrics of the different songs we play.  Our songlist includes music from several modern Contemporary Christian bands and reflects the styles of the various artists including Casting Crowns, Third Day, Kutless, Newboys, Mercy Me, Jars of Clay, Paul Baloche, Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, and the list goes on.  We also have some of our own originals which we mix in with the songs from the "pros".  For several years we played the praise music for the Contemporary Service at our church, until we felt that God was calling us to do more with our music.  We understood that for us to reach out to more people, we would have to leave the familiar surroundings of our church sanctuary and set out to play at other locations and venues.  It was difficult to leave the people who supported us in our music as we learned and grew, but it had to be.  We are excited about the opportunities, challenges and experiences that we will have as God leads us on our mission journey.
